OVERVIEW:
The largest Chinatown in Vietnam is Cholon which is located in district 5 and 6 of Ho Chi Minh City. Cholon’s current status was the result of political developments during 18th and 19th centuries. Today, as modern buildings emerge in Cholon, the historical clan associations, temples and monasteries which have been served as markers of history, still reflect the relationship between the Chinese community and the state, continue playing their roles as centers of Chinese cultural activities.
ITINERARY:
8:00 AM: Picking up and gathering at the meeting place.
The tour will start with a visit to ChinaTown in Saigon, which is the biggest Chinese community in the South of Vietnam.
We will visit one of two destinations below:
- Binh Tay market
- Kim Bien market
Two biggest wholesale market in Saigon, where you can find any kind of goods with reasonable price and see the locals bartering, purchasing and selling wares.
Then pay a short visit to Cha Tam Church, Chinese-style Catholic church, which architecture is harmonized Eastern style with Western’s.
After that, we will pay a visit to two temples below:
- Thien Hau Temple (Tue Thanh Hoi Quan), was built in the early 19th Century dedicated to Thien Hau, as known as Lady of the Sea.
- Quan Cong Temple (Nghia An Hoi Quan), was built in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, known as the biggest Assembly Hall of the Chaozhou Chinese Congregation in Saigon.
Finally we enjoy dessert with Chinese sweet soup. Some of ingredients is made of Chinese traditional medicine. (Optional choice) .
The tour ends at around 12:00 PM.
