OVERVIEW:
Beliefs and faiths are important and indispensable parts of people’s spiritual life, especially for Asian people. However, Asian culture includes more than just religious temples, great gods, incenses’ fragrant smell… Let’s join us, then we will show you another aspect of what we call “the oriental Saigon”. At the end of the tour, you might recognize how fascinating this city’s culture is, and how different Asian culture in Saigon is.
ITINERARY:
8:00 AM: Picking up and gathering at the meeting place.
First, we will visit History Museum, where you can see a rewarding collection of artefacts illustrating the evolution of the cultures of Vietnam, Champa, Funan. Highlights include valuable relics taken from Cambodia’s Angkor Wat.
After that pay a short visit to Temple of King Hung Vuong, burn incense in commemoration of Hung King.
Next, head to the Tan Dinh Market for a short walk (15-20 minutes), where the local housewives come to do their daily meals and ancestor worship, has sold plenty of market foods and fabrics, even making a really “Vietnamese” experience. There, you might know what a local market in Vietnam looks like.
Then, we will enjoy Vietnamese Sweet Soup for relaxing (optional choice).
Finally, visiting Jade Emperor Pagoda (Ngoc Hoang Pagoda), seeing one of the most spectacularly atmospheric temples in HCMC which is stuffed with statues of phantasmal divinities and grotesque heroes and the pungent smoke of incense (huong) fills the air, obscuring the exquisite woodcarvings.
The tour ends at around 12:00 PM.
